Medicare Supplement

Medicare Supplement insurance, also known as Medigap, is insurance that is designed to fill the coverage gaps that lie in Original Medicare (Medicare Parts A & B). Original Medicare pays for many of the covered healthcare supplies and services, but it does not pay for everything. Medicare Supplement insurance is sold by private insurance companies and is designed to pick up where Original Medicare falls off, covering things like coinsurance, co-payments, and deductibles.

It is important to review your Medicare Supplement plan on a yearly basis to ensure you are in the right plan at competitive rate. Each corresponding plan letter (e.g. A, B, C) with different carriers has the same coverage. For example, Medicare Supplement Plan A has the same coverage no matter which insurance carrier you are with. Although coverage is the same no matter the carrier, costs can vary dramatically depending on which carrier plan you choose.
